Most of us that live in Salida have grown up here our whole life and have been to all of these restaurants. We have all seen the ups and downs. Restaurants in a small town are easy to keep up with for people from out of town visiting, and people that are citizens of Salida. In the past few weeks, we have gotten a new restaurant called Stoke. Restaurants are struggling financially, and Stoke closed due to financial issues and some other details. Losing Stoke affected a lot of adults and students, even here at Salida High School. Lots of students here were affected by it because of loss of a job and money. Here’s one thing that a student has said around our school: “I have no way to make money, and I have to find a new job.” – Mwendwa Fairman. Many other students and adults are struggling due to the closing of Stoke. Its hard to find a job in a small town, especially for kids that are 13, 14, and 15. None of us want any more of our restaurants to close down. Thats why Stoke closing effected a lot more people then just Amicas and workers.
