Spring weather has launched the baseball season. Baseball is an important part of many of our high school students’ lives. The captains this year are Stuart Young, Christopher Graf, Ashton Walker, and Brady Houghton. They love baseball and are great fits for our Salida High School team.
One of the captains, Brady Houghton, has been playing baseball his entire high school career. Ever since he was young, he has loved baseball.
“I enjoy the sport and always have,” stated Houghton.
His colleagues note that he has been a great captain and a great comrade to his fellow and younger players. His favorite memory from this season was when the freshmen catcher threw a player on the other team out. Several of the team members have noted that Houghton was the favorite senior captain this season for the underclassmen.
Some of the captains have been playing baseball from a very young age and have stuck with it. Baseball is an engaging and challenging sport that many of our high school boys enjoy playing. The captains made sure to keep this sport engaging for the whole team. They always find a way to help out the players and encourage them to try their best.
The underclassmen were very grateful for the positive attitudes that the captains had. Some of the players said the captains are really outgoing and they feel really comfortable around them. Several of the new players noted that the captains were their favorite people on the team. The captains’ stated that their goals this year were to win. And to most it looks like they have succeeded by winning in almost half of the games that they have played. Even though the captains had no sayings for luck, they still had some luck in the games they played this season.
The boys in baseball this year had so much fun with their friends on the team. The 2024 baseball season is soon coming to an end, and the captains are graduating. They will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you to our senior baseball captains for being phenomenal to all of the athletes that participated in baseball this year.
