Autumn is the season of crisp days and cozy sweaters. As the mornings start to drop in temperature, my brain is flooded with pumpkin spice scented candles and air fresheners. I have so many memories coming back from fall days I would spend with my family and, most importantly, my dad. Fall reminds me of the evenings when I was young. We would go for after-dinner walks with my dog, Cheeto. The walks with my whole family are one of the best bonding moments I can remember. The thought of being outside around dusk in autumn is so nostalgic, I can still recall what it smelt like. Cheeto is a beautiful bronze color and I loved doing photo shoots with him in the leaves on our nightly walks.
Autumn for me is all about family and the activities that you do with your family. Some of my favorites are making leaf piles, carving pumpkins, and baking fall treats. I look forward to all of these endeavors during the other seasons of the year. My family tradition is to carve pumpkins a few days before Halloween every year so the deer won’t eat them before Halloween. A couple years ago we were too late to buy pumpkins, and we had to buy a watermelon for each of us to carve in place of pumpkins. It turned out great because we got to eat the watermelon too. Carving pumpkins is an art form in my house, and we have competitions every year competing on who makes the best pumpkin. I usually win.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I adore dressing up and watching spooky movies. To me, I don’t like the new scary movies but the old scary movies are where it’s at. Some of my favorites are “Jeepers Creepers” and “Nightmare on Elm Street.” I love watching them with my family and friends. Autumn brings people together to do the things that people love, and I’m glad for the season because it has brought my family closer together.
