When I finish high school and am ready for life, the first thing I plan on doing is getting certified in cosmetology. Nails have been a passion of mine since my mom let me get my first set of acrylic nails when I was eight years old. They were short sparkly red French tips and they made me feel so good about myself.
Nails have become a part of my everyday life and I thrive off of the self satisfaction of proudly wearing a set of nails I took the time to sculpt and articulate. Although it can be an extremely tedious and time consuming activity, the end result is so worth it. Since I was a little girl I would spend hours upon hours trying different nail designs off of Pinterest and constantly trying to improve my painting talents.
For a long while I wore every cute set of press on nails that I could find, but they didn’t last long at all and were not sturdy enough to maintain through my everyday life. As well as, none of the nail salons in our area were cutting it for me, as many in this town could agree. This drove me to be inspired and start attempting to do my own acrylic nails. It was definitely a rocky start, gathering all of the supplies and learning what products have the best end results. Along with searching up tutorials and so many hours spent experiencing trial and error. After all of this effort I have gotten to a point where I am very proud of my work and I don’t want to pull my hands away when someone asks to see how my nails turned out.
Nails to some seem like such a minor and overly feminine, unnecessary accessory but I feel like they can be so much more beneficial than that. Having a set of nails that you love and are proud of can make you feel so good about yourself and you’re reminded by this every time you use your hands. I personally use my nails to aid in so many everyday life activities, such as opening things, picking at things, doing my hair, grabbing things, and so much more. Yes, they can make certain things more difficult such as sports or picking up your card off of the floor, but depending on the style and length, nails don’t have to have any negative effects on everyday function.
I love nails and experimenting with new styles and techniques, and I strive to make others happy by widening my talents in such an expressive art.
