Seeing what our veterans do for us has made me a better human. Our veterans have been constant role models in my life, and I cannot express all of my gratitude towards them. There are many reasons why I think veterans should be acknowledged.
Veterans have sacrificed a lot for the good of the rest of us. They sacrificed their time by working hard and learning lots to help guide them on the warfield. They sacrificed their safety because they knew that they may not come out of the war alive. And most importantly, they sacrificed themselves as human beings. They put our country’s life in front of their own, and, to do this, they carried large burdens on their shoulders. Veterans are constant, almost perfect, human beings. When you want to get an example of someone that shows bravery, courage, wit, intelligence, strength, and wisdom, look at a veteran. They do so much, and some of them receive so little. They need to be recognized for their sacrifices. Lots of people don’t realize how much they put into their job of serving the country.
And all around us, there are veterans. I am extremely lucky to have two of them in my life. I listen to their stories in awe, recounting all of the incredible things they’ve done, and I just fill with amazement. This personal connection has helped me learn more about the veterans, how they are treated, and what they’ve gone through. Signing up for the military is a big deal because you lose so much and literally put your entire life into it. You lose tons when you become a veteran, but the experience that comes out of it is extremely valuable.
Finally, veterans are constant role models in our community. They put their country’s life in front of their own, and carried large burdens on their shoulders. In conclusion, I think everybody should look around them and find the Veterans, and thank them for everything they do for us.
