When the leaves change colors and school starts, we get to enjoy the tastes and smells of fall: the sports games that are played weekly and the perfect medium of the weather before the snow and after summer. Most of us either enjoy or hate this time of year, but, for all of fall, we all have some good feelings- the leaves, the pumpkins or eating lots at Thanksgiving. It’s a time to be with family and enjoy nature, a rare and beautiful thing, when some go and enjoy the escape of trees and relish the time to be happy in a moment that is picture perfect. It’s a chance for everyone to see the solitude and peace that comes with the ever changing time. A break from the comotion of daily life to enjoy something that only happens once a year. The breathtaking beauty that only so many get to experience. The rush of new flavors and recipes, the special editions at restaurants and shops. There’s a debate of the dish we eat, turkey or ham, and we eat potatoes, greens and rolls. And for those that can’t normally afford a Thanksgiving dinner, we can help at the soup kitchen by serving a meal that ensures they don’t go hungry for the night. The spirit of giving only increases as the season rolls around. And a time to remember the thanksgivings with people no longer around. the skills they shared that built an industry and fed the world their innovation and knowledge that graced the new settlers. And allowed them to survive through winter. The bitterness of knowing that their gifts of knowledge were used to take their land they lived on for generations. Never forget the sacrifices made by many people to be here today. We sit around tables and give thanks. Whatever you have or don’t have, there is always something that we can be thankful for. The leaves that are changing colors, change from summer to winter, the little things that we enjoy each time fall rolls around. Every fall we say we’re thankful for something, but even when it’s not, every day you should challenge yourself to be thankful for something.
