Everyone goes through hard patches and even though it may be rough and tear you down, and hurt, it can also provide you with revelation or understanding. I was driving home one night after a homecoming event and I hit a small elk. The animal was okay but did damage to my vehicle. It’s inconveniences and troubles like these that cause hardships for everyone. To me this was very annoying and disappointing. Because of this disruption, I wasn’t able to drive my car for a while. But how does this provide me with revelation or understanding?
The effects of hitting the animal and not being able to drive my car for a while made me realize that things can be taken away in a split second. Some people may take this revelation and think of it in a way that can induce stress and anxiety. For example, living your life thinking that scary, sad, and horrible things can happen at any given time is overwhelming. With that being said, we have to take this revelation and think of it in a positive way that can be beneficial. Considering that I wouldn’t be able to drive for a while, I understood that I needed to be grateful for the time that I am able to spend driving. Because things can be taken away in a split second, so I believe it is very important to value and appreciate everything we are able to do.
Though tribulation can be a stern teacher, it can also make you stronger. Think of it this way: if you are working towards a goal like a physique in the gym, it’s going to take time, and be hard on you. Therefore you are going to have to be disciplined. In the time you spend working towards this goal you are going to be presented with hardships. A very common hardship people face when working out is the feeling of yield. I think we can all agree that the idea of getting up early four days a week and going to workout seems easy until we do it. But what if we were to do it, and do so consistently? That would be the reason we are able to achieve that physique we dream of because we never gave up. Though this does literally mean you become stronger, it also does in the sense of your discipline. Your discipline becomes stronger as you continue to practice whatever it is you are participating in, this is because you do it even though you don’t want to.
Hardships and difficult circumstances are going to be something that everyone has to go through. Though these experiences are hard and will test you they will always come to an end. So when you recognize that you are going through a hard time, strive to understand and learn from it rather than letting whatever it is break you down.
