At the annual middle school track meet, student volunteers and athletes came together to help orchestrate the event. It was a competitive event, despite the hot day.
Carson McConathy, a high school student and athlete, helped run the meet. He described the meet as both exhilarating but exhausting. “It’s pretty hot right now, but we’re just doing our best to keep this meet professional and fun for the middle schoolers, we also want it to run smoothly.” He said, “We have a strong reputation for being a well-run meet, and we want to keep it that way.”
Like many middle school events, the meet had its share of unpredictability. Many younger athletes are still learning the rhythms of competition. Still, that energy is part of what makes the event an arena for? learning.
This meet also highlighted the importance of community involvement. Student volunteers, coaches and staff all contributed to a successful, supportive environment. Their efforts ensured that the meet maintained its reputation.
In the end, the middle school track meet wasn’t just about time or results. The meet was focused on growth, effort and experience. For many young athletes, this marked another step in their development.
